UAE Renewable Capacity Hits 8.2 GW in Decade
The UAE's renewable energy capacity grew from 129 MW in 2015 to over 8.2 GW in 2025, with clean energy providing 32.4% of electricity.

The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) renewable energy capacity increased more than 63-fold over the past decade, rising from 129 MW in 2015 to over 8.2 GW in 2025. Clean energy accounted for 32.4% of the country’s electricity generation in 2025, with the UAE targeting a 35% share by 2031. Clean energy generation exceeded 62.4 GWh during the year, while installed clean energy capacity reached 13.8 GW, comprising nuclear, photovoltaic and concentrated solar power, wind, and waste-to-energy projects.
Saudi Arabia's Red Sea Project Operational
Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Utility Infrastructure Project entered full commercial operation. The development includes 340 MW of solar capacity and a 1.227 GWh battery energy storage system. SEPCOIII executed the project under an engineering, procurement, and construction contract covering solar generation, energy storage, grid infrastructure, desalination, water and wastewater networks, waste treatment, communications, and district cooling. The infrastructure will support hotels, an international airport, a marina, and other facilities within the state-owned real estate and tourism developer Red Sea Global’s tourism project.
Egypt Reviews Joint Ventures with Masdar
Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met with a delegation from Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), led by CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, to review the progress of jointly developed solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects.
