Argentina's C&I Solar Capacity Doubles in a Year
Argentina's commercial and industrial distributed solar capacity more than doubled over the past year, reaching 132.1 MW in July 2026 and accounting for

Argentina's commercial and industrial (C&I) distributed solar capacity reached 132.1 megawatts in July 2026. The figure comes from the latest data published by the country's Secretariat of Energy.
This segment now represents nearly 80% of the 165.5 MW total capacity connected under Argentina's national distributed generation scheme. The growth in the C&I sector has been exceptionally rapid over the past twelve months.
Rapid Year-on-Year Growth
In July 2025, the Secretariat recorded 65.6 MW of C&I capacity. This means 66.5 MW was added over the following year, representing a year-on-year growth rate of 101.4%. Overall distributed generation capacity across all categories increased by 100.8% in the same period.
The C&I segment's dominant share of the market has remained steady. It accounted for 79.6% of the 82.4 MW total in July 2025, compared to 79.8% of the 165.5 MW total in July 2026.
Growth has continued strongly into 2026. Starting from a baseline of 98.4 MW at the end of December 2025, C&I capacity increased by 34.2% through July. Using January 2026 as a benchmark, capacity rose from 104 MW to 132.1 MW, a 27% increase.
User Growth and System Sizes
The number of commercial and industrial prosumers has also surged. It grew from 1,205 in July 2025 to 2,089 in July 2026, a year-on-year increase of 73.4%. There were 1,599 registered C&I users at the end of December 2025.
Capacity is growing faster than the user count. The average installed system size per C&I user has increased significantly.
| Metric | July 2025 | July 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Average Capacity per User | ~54.4 kW | 63.2 kW | +16.2% |
The rise in average capacity indicates businesses are installing larger solar power systems.
Monthly Momentum and Broader Scheme Growth
Strong growth was also recorded in the single month from June to July 2026. During that period, C&I capacity increased by 4.7 MW, from 127.4 MW to 132.1 MW. The number of registered users rose from 2,025 to 2,089. These figures correspond to monthly increases of 3.7% in capacity and 3.2% in users.
Other categories within the national scheme also saw growth, though at a smaller scale. The residential segment grew from 12.7 MW to 13.2 MW, with users increasing from 2,443 to 2,525. Capacity for official entities and agencies edged up from 10.86 MW to 10.89 MW, with users rising from 122 to 124. The 'other' category increased from 8.65 MW to 9.33 MW, with users growing from 143 to 152.
National Totals
Across the entire national distributed generation scheme, Argentina had 4,891 user-generators with 165.5 MW of capacity connected through bidirectional meters in July 2026. A year earlier, the scheme comprised 3,034 users and 82.4 MW. Total capacity therefore increased by 100.8% year on year, while the total number of users rose by 61.2%.
According to the Secretariat of Energy, Argentina added almost 6 MW of distributed generation capacity between June and July 2026 alone. The total rose from 159.5 MW to 165.5 MW, representing month-on-month growth of approximately 3.8%.
