BYD Expands Solar Energy Presence in Brazil with New Kit Offerings
BYD has started selling solar energy kits through its 233 dealerships in Brazil, expanding its presence in the country's solar energy market.

The Chinese multinational company BYD has begun selling solar energy kits through its extensive network of dealerships in Brazil. This move marks a significant expansion of the company's presence in the country's solar energy market.
The solar kits are available to all consumers, including owners of cars from other manufacturers, and are not contingent on purchasing or owning a BYD vehicle. The kits include system equipment, installation, approval by the local utility, and one year of insurance coverage.
The kits have a power output of 4.8 kW and consist of eight 600 W photovoltaic modules, an inverter, mounting structure, cables, and connectors. According to BYD, the average generation of these kits is around 600 kWh per month, depending on operating conditions and available solar resources.
The package combines the essential components and services required for installation into a single offering. In addition to the photovoltaic components, it covers installation, the utility approval process, and one year of insurance.
BYD has manufactured the modules included in the kits at its PV module manufacturing facility in Campinas, São Paulo state. This move integrates module manufacturing, distributed generation, and electric mobility into its dealership sales offering.
The company's strategy also expands its physical retail presence for photovoltaic products. In addition to its dealership network, BYD is active in Brazil's solar energy market through its module manufacturing and power generation solutions.
Consumers purchasing the solar kit can finance it through Banco Santander, with monthly interest rates starting at 1.69%. The offer does not include the Tax on Financial Operations (IOF) or the registration fee, which are charged separately.

The company's senior vice president of BYD Brazil, Alexandre Baldy, has stated that selling the kits through dealerships is intended to broaden access to solar generation solutions and bring them closer to electric mobility.
The solar kit offer was introduced alongside the launch of the new hybrid vehicle Song Pro Flex. Consumers purchasing the SUV outright or through financing from Banco Santander can pay for the solar kit in 36 fixed installments of BRL 512 ($99.23), with no down payment or interest.
BYD's expansion into the Brazilian solar energy market is a significant development in the country's renewable energy sector. The company's move into the market is expected to increase competition and drive innovation in the sector.
