The Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has announced the allocation of 2,135 MW of PV capacity in the latest tender for utility-scale solar in Germany. This allocation exceeds the capacity that the Bundesnetzagentur initially planned to hand out.

The tender was oversubscribed, with 401 project proposals totaling 3.17 GW. The new allocations were assigned across 261 bids.

## Regional Breakdown

The largest volume awarded was in Bavaria (429 MW), followed by Baden-Württemberg (266 MW), and Lower Saxony (225 MW).

The average price came in at €0.0479 ($0.055)/kWh, with final prices ranging from €0.0438/kWh to €0.0497/kWh.

The Bundesnetzagentur has also compared the latest auction results to previous tenders. In the auction finalized in May, the Bundesnetzagentur assigned 2.3 GW of capacity across 268 bids. The average price came in at €0.0494 ($0.0580)/kWh, with final prices ranging from €0.0399/kWh to €0.0510/kWh.

In the previous auction, concluded in February, the allocated PV power was 2,328 MW and the average price came in at €0.0500/kWh.

In the auction of the same kind held in mid-August 2025, the German authorities allocated 2.27 GW with prices ranging from €0.0400/kWh to €0.0626/kWh.

In the previous round, around 2.15 GW of PV capacity was assigned, while prices spanned from €0.0388/kWh to €0.0495/kWh.

In the auction concluded in February 2025, the Bundesnetzagentur allocated 2,150 MW of PV capacity across 242 bids. The auction’s average price was €0.0476/kWh, with final prices spanning from €0.0388/kWh to €0.0495/kWh.

The latest auction results demonstrate a trend of decreasing prices for PV capacity in Germany. However, the exact reasons behind this trend are not specified in the Bundesnetzagentur’s announcement.
