The global investment group Brookfield, through its renewable energy arm Brookfield Renewable Partners, and Quebec-based institutional investor La Caisse have finalized the acquisition of Quebec renewable energy producer Boralex. This move follows an announcement made in March 2026.

Boralex shareholders approved the transaction at an annual and special meeting on June 4, 2026. La Caisse, which is currently Boralex’s largest shareholder with approximately 15% of its outstanding common shares, will increase its stake to 30% following the transaction. Brookfield, which already owns renewable energy producer Neoen, will hold the remaining 70%. The transaction values Boralex at $37.25 per share.

La Caisse has previously acquired Quebec renewable energy producer Innergex following a process launched in 2024 after a private investment firm expressed interest in the company.

Boralex operates a significant amount of renewable energy capacity. The company has approximately 3.8 GW of wind, solar, hydroelectric and battery storage capacity. More than 90% of its capacity is secured under contracts with an average term of 10 years, across Canada, France, the United States and the United Kingdom. The company also has approximately 300 MW of capacity under construction or ready for construction, along with 750 MW of secured projects.

The acquisition does not affect Boralex’s operations. The company will retain its headquarters in Quebec and continue to operate independently following completion of the transaction. However, the company will be delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange.
